A LETTER TO NNPS FAMILIES

The PTA's vision of the future has always focused on the creating a healthy, nurturing environment for children. From its beginning more than 100 years ago, the country's oldest and largest volunteer group has been working to build coalitions that serve families. Virginia's Standards of Learning project and the challenges of the information age make the work of the PTA and its partnership with parents more important than ever.

By joining a local PTA, you strengthen the link between home and school as well as support the legislative work of the national PTA. Please call your child's school to find out how you can join the PTA. With your support, we can help our children succeed.

PTA Objectives

The objectives of the PTA as stated by the National Congress of Parents and Teachers are:

• to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, church, and community;
• to raise the standards of home life;
• to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth;
• to bring into closer relation the home and the school so that the parents and teachers may cooperate in the training of the child; and
• to develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for every child the highest advantage in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
